Introduction:
Participants of the last Jain Milan:
152 participants out of 167 registered participants attended the convention- 81 female (53%) and 71 male (47%). 15 participants were not able to attend, most of them because of their job commitments. Approximately 60 participants traveled by air and most were transported to and from the Hotel by our volunteers. 120 of the registered participants (72%) were between the age of 21 and 29 years and rest 47 participants (28%) were 30 years of age or above. Participants provided their mailing addresses as follows: NJ 65 (39%), NY 28 (17%), MA 10, IL 9, CA 7, and MD, MI, PA, TX, VA 5 each, GA and Canada 4 each, FL, NC, OH and RI 2 each, and AZ, CT, ID, MN, WA, UK and Singapore 1 each (total of 167). 65 (39%) of the participants have BA degree, 35 (21%) of then have MS degree, 25 (15%) of them have MD or JD degree, 25 (15%) of them have MBA degree, 10 (6%) of them have Ph.D. or Pharm. D. and. 4 of them have other college education. Besides Medicine, Law and Pharmacy professions, 55 of them are working as Engineers or computer Science professionals and 35 of them are working in Finance or Business. 122 (73%) participants have US Citizenship, 23 have US Visa, 14 have US Green card, 6 have Canadian Citizenship and 1 each has UK and Singapore citizenship.
Souvenir JainMilan2006:
A 60 page souvenir with partial bio data and photograph of the participants was professionally designed and printed on 80 pound coated papers. Four pages were inserted in the souvenir with the bio data of the participants registered on August 1st, 2nd and 3rd 2006. The graphic art for the four color cover page was designed by artist depicting Jain Center of America –NY temple and matrimonial symbol. Six pages of the souvenirs were supported by the financial supporters, Jain Centers (NJ, NY, Detroit and Boston) and well wishers. These pages were decorated with magnificent temples from India and Detroit. All participants received a souvenir with partial bio data and professional photographs. Those who could not attend the convention received a copy of the souvenir via postal mail. All the participants, volunteers, JAINA representatives and financial supporters received their customized and professionally designed four colors Jain Milan 2006 Name Badges to easily identify them. Participant’s age was incorporated in their ID Number so that no participant had to inquire about each others age.
